I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have spent a very short 5 months at the tail end of my 28 year sentence. However, while my time was short, I was able to obtain a job for a Medium size Ocala Paint Contractor as a Prepman.Since I had served 20+ years, and was being released as an Habitual Offender, On CRS, I realized that I would need a career upon release , and I saw this job as a potential money maker.I performed at an extremely high level, Preparing Residential Homes and some Commercial Properties so that the Experienced Painters could easily begin painting immediately upon arrival, never having to exert any effort preparing and protecting the job sites.Upon my release, the owner asked me to stay on, and I was assigned to an individual with 30+ years paint experience, to be taught how to Cut, Roll and detail paint Custom Homes, and Repaint existing residences.Here it is, not yet 3 years since my release, and today I  am the Owner/Operator of my own Licensed and Insured Paint Company (Hankin's Residential Specialty Painting, Inc.), and the individual who was my teacher/mentor, is now my partner. I have repainted over 100 Dell Webb  Stone Creek Residences, 40 New Custom Homes for builders, (Glenndale Const., KAP  Const., Fabian Const., Currington  Const.), just to name a few.Additionally, I have worked on various Commercial projects (Sonny's BBQ in Marion Oaks on 484, American Fire and Safety on Bonnie Heath, and Soapy's Car Wash locations).Honestly, RECO gave  me this chance, and by my remaining humble, as a 60 year old man , showing a willingness to learn, today Owning my Company making we'll into lower 6 figures, and enjoying what I do.Oh, and I am a Sub Contractor for the Company that hired me.Never forgetting those that helped.Additionally, the .one I received upon release from RECO, I was able to buy furniture for my rental unit.Since that time, I am now an owner of a residential House in a gated community.

 My name is Todd Powell I recently was released from prison from a 15-year sentence.2015 I came to prison with no education no skills and a bad attitude 5 years into my sentence I decided to get a GED then I got into the waste water and drinking water field once I got down to 5 years I got out the gate and earned all my waste water and drink water hours I had a job waiting for me on the outside once I EOS. I had 14 months left I sign up for work release I ended up at reentry Center of Ocala That Work Release Center gave me the opportunity to transition back into society and made it more easy for me once I was out of prison. being in for so long I was so in tuned of being behind the fence that reality of getting out seemed impossible but work release gave me the chance two transition into society. I got a job with a company called us water my first year out I made $60,000 I've been out almost 3 years now I am a project manager. one thing I don't forget everyday when I wake up where I came from, sky's the limit.
